Sharkey's Visit #11 to the Janeway Children's Hospital

Today we had our 11th visit to the Janeway Children’s Hospital to provide complimentary haircuts, minicures and tattoos for the great kids that are at the Janeway for an extended period of time and are unable to come to us. Every time we visit, the parents tell us how much it means to them that our visits give the kids something fun to look forward to and how great it is to break up their day. We are so fortunate and privileged to get to do what we do, we meet so many amazing kids every time we visit, and we always get to see them smile!

This week was special for a couple reasons, first of all it is National Volunteer Week in Canada; and second we have two new partners this week that are going to stick around with us.

The great folks at Tim Hortons are now sponsoring our coloring contest, today all the kids that participated received miniature Sidney Crosby hockey sticks as well as pre-loaded Tim Cards to get some Timbits!

Also, the professional artists of Wandering Brush visited with us today and did some amazing face painting as well as some pretty cool body art. The pictures this week are a must see.

Sharkey's Congratulates Jennifer Mong, 2012 National Spelling Bee Champion!

Sharkey's paid a visit to MacDonald Drive Junior High this week to congratulate 12 year old Jennifer Mong of St. John's for winning the Postmedia Canspell National Spelling Bee Championship!

Sharkey's Cuts for Kids is very proud of Jennifer and presented her with a Sharkey's gift basket as well as a gift certificate for her to drop in before she heads off to Washington D.C at the end of May for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Best of luck to Jennifer from all your friends at Sharkey's!
